Minutes of the Circulation Committee are posted on the LION website.

The Committee welcomed new LION member libraries, Rathbun- East Haddam and Brainerd – Haddam. New members may not be aware of circulation policies and guidelines. Nancy Wardell, Kathleen Campion and Christine Kelsey volunteered to compile the policies and guidelines from previous meetings for the new members. There is a list of all LION libraries and their contact person posted on the LION website.

Members were reminded not to change the status of another library’s items. If a patron claims an item has been returned and it is owned by another library, contact the owning library library but do not change the status.

Janet Cavanagh reported on the recent Circ Roundtable meeting held on Oct. 22. Some of the items discussed were library’s responsibilities for voter registration. C-Car status, and circulation desk design. Plans for the next roundtable include discussion of the Patriot’s Act.

Mark stated that each library should review the Patriot’s Act. Circulation staff should defer any questions or requests to the library director. Mark reminded members that LION, not individual libraries, own the date. He advised members to review their policies regarding signing up for internet use.

LION will begin to delete expired Levi Coe Library patrons in anticipation of their leaving LION on Jan 1st, 2003.

There has been no ruling from the State regarding counting transit holds as c-card holds.

Mark reported on some of the updates to Dynix Release 190. The CIV, RIS and CPV reports are now multi-user and can be run without holding up the system.

If a bib record is being accessed and the item attached to that record is checked same time, a message will appear on the screen stating that the check-in has been ignored in at the or skipped. This means that the item has not been checked in. The item should be put aside and checked in at a later time. Members were asked not to stay in a record for any length of time. The .cp is not reliable and Dynix is aware of this.

The screen listing items a patron has checked out, can be set up as the default screen, when a patron’s card has been scanned. The system will now do basic e-mail address verification. Pre-overdue statements can be sent out via e-mail. LION will send them out once a week. Patrons can enter their own e-mail addresses from character cell PAC’s.

Another meeting will be scheduled for spring.

Meeting adjourned at 11:45.
