  1. Anyone can go to the RDA toolkit by going to http://access.rdatoolkit.org/ and clicking on Resources. Under the LOC heading there are RDA policy statements.
  2. Paula mentioned also a book coming out by Robert Maxwell; Maxwell’s Handbook for RDA: Explaining and Illustrating RDA: Resource Description and Access Using MARC21; 978-0-8389-1172-3
  3.  The RDA procedures that the RDA subcommittee put together will go into effect July 1st.

  1. There was a question and small discussion on multi-disc DVDs and how people handle their holds.  Meriden deletes holds and replaces them manually with fake item records for multi-item holds to ensure patrons get the right items.
  2. There was a discussion about adding item records in Sierra for databases so patrons could link to them from the OPAC. Mitchell College already does this. If libraries are interested, send examples to Andy.
  3. There was a discussion about how libraries handle their DVDs. Most libraries have locking cases on shelves or a dual case system. A few also have a numbered binder system.
  4. III is looking into updating our RDA configuration in Sierra and will have to modify our bibliographic record templates.  They need us to delete the 008 field from our templates while they make their changes; we can add the 008 back to the templates after they make the necessary changes.  Andy will notify us when the change is going to happen and we need to delete the 008.
  5. Andrea has asked CLC about special CLC pricing for the RDA toolkit and will let everyone know when she hears anything.
  6. If anyone would like to contribute to the fund set up for Karan the info is:

The Conover Family Fund
18 Stonybrook Drive
East Haddam, CT  06423

Or make a deposit directly at any Liberty Bank

We will have the next meeting sometime in September after everyone’s had a few months to work with RDA and see if there’s any issues or concerns.
